“Another shrimp on the babay!?”

Howdy Fam y Amigos!!!!

How’s life treatin ya this fine day!!!  I sent 2 voice recordings home for mom and dad for their BIRTHDAYS!!!!!!!!!   I cant believe that time is flying by SO fast!  And I almost peed my pants when I realized this morning that THIS THURSDAY IS BYU HOME OPENER!!!!!!!!  RAYOS DEL SOL!!!!  PROVECHO AMIGOS PROVECHO!!!!  Family dont fret because before this season of football ends THIS GUY will be saying HELLO ONCE AGAIN TO LAVELL EDWARDS STADIUM!!!!  Okay, enough of that, sorry I wont get all trunky on you!  SO onto the good stuff...
4 weeks in a row baptizing!!! YEAH!  La hermana Rosio was baptized this Saturday and Sunday was confirmed, she is 22 and SUPER excited to go on a mission!  She is going to start to do splits with the sister missionaries in our zone.  So that was a great experience, also i think i told you of the little old man we found in the mountain on my birthday and wants to get baptized really bad!  SO this week we have been teaching him a whole bunch and he doesnt really understand anything in Spanish!  A little but no very much, so this week we were a little frustrated because he couldnt quiet capture the thought that God is one person and Christ another and the Holy Ghost is a spirit. Also he wasnt understanding how to pray because he speaks that native language of Quechua (Cechwa) a lot more than Spanish.  SO in Ward Counsel meeting the bishop assigned a sister in our ward to go with us and teach Cebilino!  And he was SO happy!  He just lit up when the sister started talking in Quechua!  And he finally learned how to pray and now is progressing!  It was so awesome!  I didnt understand ANYTHING AT ALL!!! HAHA, I felt like I was in my first month of the mission listening!  Haha, but it was a good experience!  And he is really excited to get baptized the 8th!  Also we need some prayers for a teenager named Ruben so he has the courage to get baptized this week!  Please pray for us!!!
I am SO excited to go to Lima and see ELDER CHIRSTOPHERSON this week! YEAH SON!  It is going to be absolutely AWESOME!  You had better bet that  I am going to ask a question!  I have to take advantage!  IT is my first time meeting an Apostle.  SO when you are Hittin up Lavell Edwards this week, dont forget that Friday I will be with an Apostle!!! YEAH!  But dont worry I will be praying for the Cougz this week and as always against that team up north... HAHAHAHAHA!
I wanted to wish dad and mom a VERY happy birthday and Caroline a LOT OF LUCK in her first day at ALTA!!! OH WHAT MEMORIES!  Good old Alta, I cant believe my little baby sister is a Sophomore!!! CONGRATS!!!  Oh and Ainsley I hope you are doing very well in the bakery shop and that all is well and thanks Russ for the letter!  SO, keep it real, have a FANTASTIC week and I sent the recordings, so ENJOY!

Love,
Elder  Spencer Marty McGhie!

PS Tell the EX-Elder Killpack HI for me!!!!

“I AM 21!!! WHAT THE OLD!?”

HOLA!!!

How are things going in Sandy Utah?  Life is great here in HUANUCO PERU!  Oh what a great week it really was!  First off we have been planning a HUGE activity in our ward, like the Luau in the Preach my Gospel DVDs and it was SUCH a success!  We received more than 80 REFERENCES!!!!!!!!!  Holy cow, it was a whole gym FULL of investigators, we acted and did a little show as missionaries, it was pretty cool.  I will have to send you the video in a package, because the sketch was pretty dang funny!  Although it’s in Spanish... I guess dad can translate for ya!  So yesterday was really a FANTASTIC Birthday!  I had the chance to talk in Sacrament Meeting, and the stake president was there.  He pulled me aside after the meeting and started singing happy birthday, haha it was pretty funny, I have no idea how he found out, I am pretty sure President Ardila told him, because he invited us to his house tonight to have a family night and to celebrate my birthday!  He asked if it was alright, I just thought, well... he is the stake president even if I didnt want to go, I wouldn’t say no! Haha, so that was pretty cool, we will see how it goes tonight.  But the BEST birthday present I got had to be our Baptism of LEONCIA!!!  Oh she is THE BOMB!  Its this little old lady, and every Sunday we go to pick her up and we bring her in a taxi, because she can´t walk very well, but she was SO excited to get baptized.  The Relief Society Presidency helped her get into her baptismal clothing and I had to carry her into the baptismal font, she is so funny, it was such a cool experience!  I carried her into the font, baptized her and carried her out.  She is the sweetest little old lady!  So that was a great Birthday Present!!!  All in all I had such a great birthday, we visited a teen who went to the giant activity, and came to church Sunday and he accepted to be baptized on dad´s Birthday!!! HAY ESTA!!!!  And then we found a older man WAY up there in the mountains, who cant hear worth squat, my comp sat on one side of him and I on the other and he is SO excited to get baptized the First of September!   We told him that we were there to baptize him and his whole face just LIT up with joy and looked up to the skies and said, Thank you Lord!  It really touched my heart.  He said his neighbors have told him that the church is false, but he told us that he knows that all opposition comes from satan and that there isnt anything that will stop him from getting baptized!  CAN YOU SAY BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!!

So I really love my mission SO much, I feel super weird, because my birthday was like the last mile stone, before ending my mission, I only have 2 and a half months left to keep on working for the Lord and I will GIVE IT MY ALL!!!!  I want to ask you a favor, that you can think of questions that I can ask Elder Christofferson for the 30th, so I can have them on Monday and that Friday ask him!  President Ardila asked us to think of questions, because there will be a question and answer time, and it will be all the missionaries in Lima and the zone leaders from our missions, so we gotta REPRESENT PERU LIMA EAST!

I know you are all wondering, if my birthday package got here, but it hasn’t arrived yet, but dont worry!  It was still such a WONDERFUL Birthday!!!  I mean I had a baptism, we found 2 miracles, and I got to partake in the Sacrament!  Those were such great gifts, and I know they come from the Lord and your constant prayers for me!  I love you SO much fam, and dont worry next week I will have special recordings for dad and mom´s birthdays and when I go to Lima I am sending a package home with letters and gifts!  Because flipping Serpost is in a strike or something!  WOOF, so if you want to send letters, do it for dear elder or even better for
E-MAIL!

LOVE YA!!!
From you 21 year old son, ELDER McGHIE!

Ps, send a late birthday wish to my main man Elder Morton who is tearin it up in Cochabamba , Boliva

Spencers Birthday package got to him about 2 weeks late!!  We sent him a Peyton Manning Bronco Jersey and he freaked out and he says he wears it every chance he gets!!  He probably sleeps in it!! =)   Here are some pictures of Spencer and his beloved Jersey!! =)

I have to figure out which pictures go with each email and when I do........I will promptly post the pictures on here!! 83 DAYS!

Hi,
This is of course Spencer's Mom, since I am the only person who writes on or updates this blog!=)  Yes,  I am counting the days until Spencer comes home!  Spencer on the other hand is not thinking about it because he is going to have a hard time knowing his fulltime mission is finished and that he will be leaving Peru!  So, he is serving each day like he is in the middle of his mission and not thinking about coming home, which is what he should be doing plus he is super busy so that is good!  I of course am happily counting down the days until I get to actually see my cute son for the first time in 2 years! Wow, I can't even believe that it will have been two years since I have seen Spencer in person!

Okay, I just had to write a post about how many days are left until Spencer comes home! Now I promise to get this blog up to date and stop daydreaming about seeing Spencer for real in ................ 83 days! =)

I am going now,  to get this blog caught up to date!
 Bye!
Carrie =)

LA SEMANA HUANUQUEÑA!

HOLA MI ESTIMADISIMA FAMILIA Y AMIGOS!

Well there is nothing like opening up your inbox and finding out... SURPRISE your family is in LAKE POWELL (Not his whole immediate family, there were 3 of us not there, honestly, I am rolling my eyes right now =)??!!) CARAMBAS HIJO! Haha!!  Well I have one word for your little get away in Powell: PROVECHO!  (I dont know how to translate that word, it’s like to take advantage I guess?)  So I am LOVING life here in the mission in HUANUCO!  It is the best valley in the whole mission!  I mean I loved Huancayo, but hey I started here in Huanuco and I am HUANUQUEÑO PE (I have no idea what he is saying????)!!!  Haha, so we were very blessed and had a MIRACLE baptism this week of a teenager named Tony.  Because we went to Lima for 3 days and we got back Thursday, we looked for him the entire day Thursday and he was NO WHERE to be found.  So Friday at 7:30 in the morning we went hiking up to his house (a solid 15 minute climb up a flippin mountain) and just as we got there he was heading to work!  So we ran over there and started talking to him and he told us he was TOTALLY excited for his baptism, but that’s not all, his mom has to sign a permission slip, she had already told us it was fine to baptize him, but we called her up to get her HERBY HANCOCK, and she started flippin out!  AY CARAMBA.  SO we had to go on the wild goose chase to find her and do you know what time we found her?  15 minutes before his baptism!  Holy Cow I was flippin out, I got there and she wasn’t very happy and didn’t want to sign anything!  And without her Herby HANCock we can’t baptize teens younger than 18!  And her son was already in the church with like 20 people!  But we did some smooth talking and she finally signed the permission slip and even came to the baptism!  But wow, I am pretty sure that I lost a few hairs after that one!  We have been really blessed by the Lord for these baptisms, we can have 3 more this week, it’s amazing how the lord blesses!  He has given us SO many investigators and it looks like we could very well meet our goal of 13 baptisms this month!  But keep praying!  Please pray for Rocio, Leoncia, and Joel for this week, Rocio is 25, Leoncia is a little old lady who is like 90 and we have to help her and almost carry her to church, and Joel is 18, they have all accepted their baptismal date for this week, but you guys know how the pesky serpent is!  So please pray!

I almost fell off my chair reading that LINEY HAS HER LEARNERS PERMIT! FLIPPIN A!  What happened to my little sister!  Sorry Liney but I don’t think I will let you drive me home from the airport!  HAHA!  So fam I love you SO Much thanks for the letters, I want to congratulate mom on how dedicated she is about going her work out class!  Mom, I loved the goals you sent me last week, you gotta read in chapter 8 in Preach my Gospel on how to set and meet goals!  Ainsley I loved you letter and your quotes you always send me!  And dad, your “Dear Elder” Letter got here, thanks a lot it was exactly what I needed to hear and read!  Keep up the good work!  I love ya so much and tell Russ I am still waiting for an email from him!

Until next week!
Elder Spencer Marty McGhie

PS…..Can you believe I am turning 21 this Sunday (no, because I haven’t seen him since he was 19 and just so you know, we only have 82 days left until he is home!! =) We got his flight plans and everything!!)!!!??? RAYOS DEL SOL I AM LIKE OLD OR SOMETHING!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I am glad he is still the same old funny Spencer still!! =)

BACK TO THE GET GO!

HEY FAM Y AMIGOS!
So as you hear I am officialy in HUANUCO again!  Haha can you believe that!?  Monday morning President called me and told me that there was going to be a few transfers in my zone and I got that nervous butterfly feeling in my stomach and thought oh no!  Then after p day and some great family nights, they called and said, “Elder McGhie, you have transfers, and you are going to Huanuco!”  AY CARAMBA I just about fell off my chair!  I thought it would be impossible to return to the great valley of Huanuco because I had already served in both zones here!  I am pretty excited to be here again!
Sunday night the stake president invited us to a meeting with all the bishop ricks to make goals for August and see how we did in September.  The stake president is Presidente Luna and he is SO great!  He was totally sticking it to some of the lazy bishops that don’t help or don’t really care much about the mission work!   We were there for 4 hours!  I`m sorry but I don’t really want to be a bishop haha, It seems pretty stressful!  President Luna talked about sacrifice and how much are we really willing to sacrifice as priesthood holders.  He said when all is well, when we are healthy and the sun is shining its not really a sacrifice to go out and work.  The sacrifice comes when times are tough, when things are really going our way.  He said in those momentes are when we show the Lord that we really Love him and that we are willing to sacrifice everything for him!  Its was a really cool meeting, all the bishops compromised themselves to their goals for August and it should be a great month!
So we had a great Consejo with President Ardila, he talked a lot about the Atonement and gaining a “Real” Testimony of Christ, like the Apostols did when they saw Christ Ressurected.  He gave us some instruccions we watched the last talk the Bruce R. McConkie gave before he died and he told us we should read Jesus El Cristo and search that testimony.  That is my  goal for these last few months, to gain a REAL testimony of Christ and UNBREAKABLE testimony.  I know that Christ lives and he is my Savior, but I want to know it with every FIBER of my Being!!!  SO the best way to gain that testimony is to kneel down, study hard, and work harder for the lord!   I love this work and I love you guys!  Thanks for all you have done and are doing for me!
Elder McGhie!!!

Hola Familia Mia!!!

Lo siento que no tengo fotos hoy dia, voy a tomar algunas hoy para la proxima semana!!! (Translation – Sorry I don’t pictures today, I am going to take some today for next week)  Muchisimas Gracias for the Package!!!!!!!!  It was great to get it!  Thanks for all the stuff, I have to confess, I promised my Pensionista and her family chocolate in my last package, but I might have eaten it all with Elder Mitchell... oops haha so I snagged the bag you sent for the Elders in the office and gave it to the pensionista... HAHA!!!  Soy malo... malo hasta los huesos!  (I am bad…bad to the bone)  So sorry about that.  I was thinking a little about the questions about the birthday package.  And I was thinking if you could send some stuff for my pensionista and her husband and her little boy Hyrumcito!!!  I think it would be awesome to send them some BYU T-shirts and a little one for Hyrum!  Is he not the cutest little guy in the world! (see last weeks pics)   John (the pensionistas Hubby) is a salesman for Nissan here in Huancayo so we also have competitions that we will baptize more people then he sells cars, and the loser at the end of the month has to buy Pizza Hut for the others!  Haha good stuff!  So a little input on the trip plans, it looks like SUCH a blast to me!   I would like to stay here in Huancayo a little bit more time,  John told us he could take us to one of the Soccer games here in Huancayo, (the team is Esport Huancayo... haha)  But I think that would be cool, I doubt that Mom or Liney would go, but Dad you and I could hit it up!  And I would like to spend some time with John and Patty and Hyrumcito, and my converts here, we could play a pick up game of soccer in the church or something!  And I don’t think I will end my mission here, so according to my last area, I imagine I will want to visit there too...  So if I don’t end in the jungle, you know I am going to want to hit that up and the whole Inca trail looks like an absolute blast!  Also we can go out to lunch with President Ardila and his fam when we are in Lima.   Also there is a chance that I can talk to Luis and Ines, the couple that are fire fighters in Paucarbamaba, I heard from them a little while ago and they have plans to get sealed.  So that would be an absolute dream if they get sealed in December... I am going to write them a letter to see about their plans!

So I don’t really remember what other questions you asked last week, what happens is I read the letters that same day or Tuesday and then with all that goes on in the week, I completely forget about you questions... sorry, yes I know dad, it’s not very hard to write it down in my little planner!  I will do better!  So, I explained what happened with our investigators and all that in the voice recordings! QUE RABIA!  but oh well we will keep on keepin on, we could have up to 6 baptisms this week, the only problem is that the investigators still aren`t very excited, so we are going to help them out, if you could include Robinson, Dionicio, Flabia, Lucero, Nicholas, and Jesus in your prayers, that they can overcome their problems and have the courage to accept their baptismal dates!

Thanks family for all that you do, thanks for the emails and packages, you’ll never know how much it means to a missionary in the field to know that every day he has his family praying for them and to go to the internet cafe and know that there will be letters, I am so blessed to be able to serve here in Peru Lima East and have SUCH a great family! LOVE YA!

Air forcen it up!!!

FAMILY!!!!
How we doing fam?  I hope life is very good and that you are excited to hear from This GUY!!!  So life is great, we had our baptism of the Hermana Yulissa!  And we have found a whole bunch of new people to baptize this month!!!  For example there is a father, his wife and daughter that were progressing for the 28th we went Sunday morning to go to church together and JUST in the nick of time arrives their cousin… woof!!! She take the dad in the back and just starts talking APOSTASIA about the church and I was SO ticked off, and the she would flippin leave and we had to go without him to church!!!
So…  I was pretty much ticked off on the way to church!  But the Lord is pretty much LO MAXIMO!  So I was a little frustrated and all but out of nothing a guy from another stake comes in with a reference of a family of 5!!!  And then the President of the Elders Quorumn gave us 3 more references!!! YES!
So I have to tell you quickly, we went to Huancavelica to help the US AIR FORCE OUT!!! SO they are all here doing free medical stuff fro all the peoplebut one problem… they don’t speak Spanish!!! Haha so they asked us to go and translate!! It was SO cool, we got there and it was a really great experience translating for the Air Force and we took a few pics, so HOW BOUT THAT the US AIR FORCE In the middle of Peru!  I haven’t seen more gringos in 20 months haha!
LOVE YOU BYE!!!
And I will wrte you about the trip and B day next week!

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES...

FAMILIA Y AMIGOS!
OH man, we had transfers or in Spanish, changes and well I was pretty bummed because my companion Elder Hernandez from Guatemala was one of the best companions I have had in my mission, and we only got to stay together 1 month, pero ASI ES LA MISION! CABALLERO NO MAS!  Or in other words, that’s the way the cookie crumples sometimes!  But my new comp is a good Elder.  He is named Elder Huerta, from Moquegua Peru, he only has 14 months in the mission and it’s his first time as a zone leader.  We get along pretty well and we are excited to keep on chugging in this great work!  I stayed in Huancayo!  HOORAY! I love Huancayo it’s the bomb!  And Elder Corbridge is now in my zone as a trainer!  HOORAY!  Finally re-united since Amarilis!  I love that Elder, he is such a champ!  And guess in what area he is!  LA FLORIDA!  YAY!  SO finally there is someone who will work hard and help out my old area!  So life is good we are about to travel to Lima for the zone leader meeting, I will get to see some pals and of course Elder Udall and Elder Madsen, MY BOYS!  Haha such good memories with them in the office, I love those kids! And Elder Avalos is here in the neighboring zone in Mantaro so we get to see each other quiet often!  VIVA! He is a great missionary as well!  SO this week we have a TON of people to baptize!  First we have a sister named Julisa Seans.  She was contacted by Elder Poindexter last December and has always wanted to get baptized, but isn’t married and she is getting married and baptized this week!  (Please let Elder Poindexter now, he will be SO happy!)  Also the Curi family is getting married and baptized this week as well a kid who is 20!   SO its going to be a crazy week please pray for them so that all can go well!  The kid is named Robinson.  So mom, I think it’s better to send the emails in word doc and yeah I need like 6 BYU t shirts, 2 larges and 4 mediums.  I also want to gift some of those small preach my gospels in Spanish to my ex comps, por favor 6 of them and I need an idea of what we can give President Ardila, he loves the Jazz and BYU, maybe a jersey or something like that of the jazz with his name on the back - I don’t know but we can think about it!  As for me umm the usual some peanut butter and sweets like that!  You the bomb fam!  I am totally digging the hair part, I am officially converted and I hope you are doing alright!

Have a good week!
Elder Spencer Marty McGhie
ps my area goal is 12 with 12 and the zone 89 with 92, we only got to 24 last month so we need some serious prayers!!!

LOVE YA!

NOTHING BETTER

HABLA FAMILIA Y AMIGOS! Jaja
HEY HOWDY HEY!  So today is a very great day!  My companion and I are very happy right now, because we had 2 giant miracles!!!  So we have had a few tough times in our area, last month wasn`t exactly what we were hoping for.  9 disconfirmations!  But a couple weeks ago, we made some clear goals of what we needed to do and now we have been able to baptize 2 weeks in a row!  But our baptisms this week were SO INCREDIBLE!  Anthony and Franco they are 2 teenagers who have 16 and 18 years (which really means they are 16 and 18 years old) and they are straight up champs!!! There uncle is the ex 2nd Counselor in one of the wards in the Huancayo Stake and they are really CONVERTS!  Our District Leader finished their baptismal interviews and came over and hugged us and said, wow, they are true converts!  Franco wasn’t too sure about his baptism, his mom is older and he has to provide for his family.  He was worried if he got baptized he would let his family down and not be able to help them.  We then clearly explained that it is the complete opposite!!!  That is he gets baptized the Lord will bless him and his family!!!  And Anthony is the bigger one, he had a pretty tough teenage life, bad friends, a few bad decisions, but that is the beauty of this GOSPEL!  He was able to repent and now he is CLEAN!  How amazing is that!   I really love those 2 kids!  It was so great to finally help these teenagers be clean again!   Oh so I was thinking a little about my birthday and well I would like things for my companions, and pensionistas!  Like BYU shirts or hoodies and stuff for pensionistas, I will think it over a few more times and get back to you! LOVE YA FAM!!!! ENJOY THE PICS!!!!
Elder McGhie!

ps dad, a little homework,
How many stakes and temples are there in Utah, and what is the percentage of members to non-members, oh and how many missions are there in Utah?  People always ask me that kind of stuff and I would like to know!  LOVE YA!  Oh and my goal for the last 4 months of my mission is baptize 30 people!!!  So help me on the count, not to be prideful but to do it for them and the Lord!!  2 down!

June 25, 2012

HABLA FAMILIX!

HOWDY FAM AND FRIENDS,
So here we go I have about 10 minutes to crank out 7 days worth of information in an email... SO here goes nothing!
Well we had a baptism and it was a CRAZY Miracle.  We have had 8 disconfirmations (those are people who have committed to baptism, then backed out) this month in our area, and we were about to have 9...  Her name is Sara and well it was Thursday we went to see how she was doing and to get her ready for her baptismal interview on Friday and she came out of her house and said, well sorry but I don’t want to get baptized and if it’s the last time you guys come by that’s ok... WHAT!  We tried to talk to her and she wasn’t even budging!!!  I was SO DEPRESSED!  We left and my comp and I just walked to Plan B in Silence!  Then Friday we had our Weekly Planning Meeting and we were talking about Sara and we said what the heck we are going to FIND HER AND BAPTIZE HERE!!! But Friday we had a bunch of interviews to do and a teenager from England got baptized named BOB JENKINS!  I will explain next week but yeah so the interviews were in English so I had to do it. My comp went and worked miracles and BOOM we baptized her! VIVA!  We have 3 more for this week! PLEASE PRAY FOR US! LOVE YA! BYE!
Elder McGhie

So here are some pictures that he sent of his train trip and I dont know why but he looks like a terrorist in some of the pictures cause he has a black hat on and a black scarf around his neck and his white shirt and tie on................so weird!!  But he is so cute and he has less than 4 months left!!! =)

The Hogwarts Express in Peru!!!

HOLA FAMILIA Y AMIGOS!

So, this is Elder McGhie, writing you from HUNCAVELICA, Peru!  It is town about 4 hours away from Huancayo.  I traveled there today on a TRAIN!!!  Oh YEAH!  Haha it was so awesome!  It took about 6 hours by train, we left Hunacayo at 6:30 am and I got here around 12:30pm, but I totally felt like I was on the Hogwarts Express!  haha  It was a  legit chuga chuga cho-choo train!  And so, here I am in Hunacavelica on splits with one of our District Leaders, Elder Reyes from Chiclayo Peru.  I think I explained almost all of it on the voice recording! (Spencer sent 4 voice recordings, made while he was on the train!!  They are pretty funny and so very “Spencerish”!! =)They made me laugh and roll my eyes and basically they made me happy cause he is such a goofball!!! =) I will try to upload a link to his recordings but I am not sure how to do that so we will see what happens!! =)

So last week was kinda sad, all of our 3 investigators that were SO excited to get baptized all had some troubles this week and we couldn’t baptize anyone!  Oh man...  I won’t lie, I was pretty bummed since I got here to Hunacayo we have had 7 people super excited to get baptized and they really were doing great and all 7 have been disconfirmed... (not sure what that means except that they maybe cant be baptized ?) So Friday night we heard from Francisco (50 years old).  He moved back to Lima Wednesday at 4 in the morning! Then Jose Luis (23) well, he has a dad who is a drunk and a mom who is hooked on drugs so he fought with them and sort of moved out, well he left and his cell phone broke and we cant find him anywhere, and then Friday we were finishing the Pre-Interview with Sara and she told us she drank wine... WOOF!!!  SO Friday night I was a little bummed out, but we had killer multi zone conference with President Ardila on Saturday in the morning and it was AWESOME!  President Ardila is a CHAMP!  I was reading in my scriptures today and I found a verse that President Ardila had taught me about and I really love it!  Its in 1 Nephi 21:16, where the Lord promises that he will never forget about us, because he has us recorded in the palms of his hand!  I really liked that!!

It’s crazy to think I only have 4 and a half months left to serve as a missionary,  it’s pretty sad!  I can’t believe how fast time has gone by and how fast it keeps on going!  I love Peru, my mission, and this CHURCH!  So it’s time to work harder than ever and learn all I can in these 4 and a half months that I have left, there is a lot of work to do!  And Mom, I have no clue what I want for my birthday! (Okay, here is a question for all of you………what do you send a missionary for his birthday on August 19th, when he will be coming home  2 months  and a few weeks later???  I know we can send him American candy but Hello?  What else ………..any ideas???)  Haha this week I will think about it and I will write you this coming Monday.

LOVE YOU ALL!
Elder McGhie!

My New Companion!!

HOLA FAMILIA Y AMIGOS!!!

How are you doing!?  I hope you guys are very happy and all is well in good old SANDY, UTAH on DIANA HILLS!  Haha that made me remember when Ainsley and I went to drop Brandon off at his house after church and it snowed a bunch and we were turning to go down Diana Hills and Ainsley spun out of control and completely TRUCKED the Street Sign of Diana Hills!  It was just lying there flat in the snow!! We were in her old, but cool  Lexus and it only has rear wheel drive!!…. HAHAHA!!! CLASSIC AINSLEY!  But anyway enough of making fun of the Professional Accountant and Pastry Chef, this week was crazy!!!

So I wanted to thank you guys for the package, it got here last week, so my comp and I have SO Much chocolate to eat haah!  But we are happy with it and yes, Mom, I love the picture of the missionaries and the Armor of God, and the little picture frame of Christ and the sheep is my favorite painting! SO COOL And don’t worry mom I am brown on the inside like the stripling warrior picture you sent!!! Oh and thanks for the invitation to the wedding… 1 month late, DONDE ESTA EL AMOR! HAHA!  No don’t worry all is well.

So I am really sorry for my last few emails, that I haven’t written much, I will do better now!  SO my new comp is Elder Hernandez, It was so crazy we went to consejo(Zone Leader Conference that they have once a month) and President Ardila stood up and just started making transfers and he sent Elder Mitchell to the other zone in Huancayo, called Mantaro and Elder Hernandez is my new comp, he is from Guatemala, and a Champ!  SO happy and ready to work!  We get along great, of course I miss Elder Mitchell, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles eh?  So our investigators had to change their baptismal date to this week so we have Jose Luis, Sarah, and Francisco with a baptismal date this week…  Jose is 23 Sarah is 21 and Francisco is about 55 from Lima, he is here working for Claro (it’s like Verizon wireless of Peru)  and we found him and he wants to get baptized!!! There are also 2 teenagers, Junior and Christian they are 17 and 12, their Grandpa is member, and their mom is RE-CONTRA Inactiva (your guess is as good as mine about what their mom is???)!  So she doesn’t want to give them permission to get baptized, so please pray for them and their mom, so she can soften her heart and give them permission, so we have high hopes for 5 baptisms this week and about 15 to 20 as a zone.

I am really happy here in Huancayo, I will be even happier on Friday because we are going to change rooms!!! YAY! We have a brand new room they have been building for the missionaries and it will be ready Friday!  SO I hope all is well I love you very much, the Peru Trip, plan seems perfect to me, we go and visit my area’s and Pensionistas and converts for a couple days then mom can return the others come, (just to add a little note of Reality to this Peru trip plan, (which Spencer wants to take after he has been home a few weeks) Spencer’s has been in three main cities; Lima, Huanuco and Huancayo….. well Huancayo is a 6 or so hour drive from Lima and Huanuco is a 10 hour drive from Lima and in the opposite direction from Huancayo, so I don’t know how we are going to do that in a 3 day period but we will see?? Oh and by the way, We ONLY HAVE 4 and a half months left!! =)  Okay, I am going now!! So, bye)  and we can go MAD SIGHT SEEING! YEAH!   SO, Dad, the converse are black high tops, size 10 and a half… and the elder is going to pay me!
LOVE YOU!!!
BYE!!!

Wow, What a Week!!!

Dear Family and Friends,

What a marvelous time I am having here in Huancayo!!! It has really been a time of many miracles and many blessings!!!  So after I wrote you guys we got the results from last month and what we need to do this month to keep on track with the stake goals.  And well, remember what I told you about needing to baptize 50 people- wrongo!!! Try 73!!! But we said, well why not 80!!!  Yeah!  haha  So, our goal in the Huancayo Zone is 80 baptisms with 82 confirmations!   And you know the best part... it’s so crazy it just might WORK!!!  I couldn’t sleep that night thinking about how we were going to meet a goal so high, so I got out of bed knelt down and asked the Lord if it was possible or if we could baptize 80 people in this zone in this month!  And ya know what, IT IS!!!  I know it’s possible, because I felt it in my heart!!!  SO, with all that energy the next morning we had a meeting with our District Leaders and we told them about the goal, and they believe as well!!!  So we had to help the zone to believe and we had one of if not the most powerful zone meeting in my life and we all have testimonies that yes, we can baptize 80 people here in the zone.  When I told Elder Avalos (his old companion in the office) he about fell of his chair the other zone leaders that heard, just laughed... But to tell you the truth I am absolutely sure we can do it!!!  Like it says in 1st Nephi 3: 5, Its what the lord wants!!!  And we will do it because there are 80 people that need to hear this gospel and find this great happiness and peace in their lives!!! I KNOW ITS TRUE AND ITS TIME TO GO TO WORK! BYE!!
Elder McGhie
