What is happening all the way over there in Utah??

Feb. 28, 2011
Hola Famila and Friends! What is happening all the way over there in Utah! So I took a quick glance at my emails and saw the one forwarded from Dayton about his mission call! I really was going to write this week and ask que pasa with BIG D! I cant flippin believe it! JAPAN!!! That is so amazing! He will do so much good for those people and he is going to just love it! Send him my congrats and love! Tell him i miss him to, my brochaco! I was so happy to read that! What a stud and a half!!! He better send me his mtc address and everything so i can write him! Ok I dont have time to read the email from bubba but tell him i love him and im sorry i havent written him but i will! Tell him i love him and to keep his head up and charging forward!

Ok, on to the email.  SO this week has been rather interesting to say the least.  It started out, we had splits this week for a day, and i couldnt believe it i got to go on splits with Elder Corbridge! HE is another gringo in my district, he has one more change than me and we are going through the same stuff with companions, language, changes, so we have really become great pals.  So yeah i got to go on changes with him for a whole day! IT was so sososososo AWSOME! HE is from Pleasant Grove, just graduated in 2010 as well so we have a lot in common, and we both just want to work and serve with all we have! So pretty much it was the best! It was an awesome day and it was cool because for the first time, we could just both go out there and work, work, and work! And the first time, we were like the leaders of the conversation, leaders of the lesson, actually doing the legit stuff, it was so fun! It was like a day of what i can have my mission be like if i keep pressing forward, and work through these hard times, I’ll be rewarded and then one day I’ll get to be senior comp, make the decisions and we can work, work and work some more!!! So that was awesome, we were contacting like crazy, teaching lessons, practically running around my area just PREACHIN THE GOSPEL!
Oh what an amazing feeling it was! I know i was supposed to be on splits with him that day, because it just kinda reenergized us to start  kinda picking our comps up and going to work! It gets hard, i get worn out, but it is good, and good lessons.  My comp really has kicked it up about 10 notches; we are doing a lot better! He really is a great elder just kinda lost his purpose for a while, but we have found some excitement and we are doing really well actually! We had another baptism this week.  A teenage boy age 17, named Kevin Wisawski Herrara.... yeah you heard me like Mike Wasowski from Monsters Inc! I had to do all i could to hold in my laugh when i heard his name! And yep I nailed the name, and the baptism prayer... im practically a seasoned veteran now... haha or NOT.  But that brings the count to 5 baptisms, meaning i have passed Steven Shelley hahahahah tell him I’m sorry but I guess I’m just a better person? haha so anyways of course i have a great Gringo Moment for yall.  So its Thursday night, we finish our
lesson and its 9 o’clock, and time to return to our room.  It starts raining, it had been a crazy weird, hard day, but all was well, so we got in our room flipped on the lights and the lights were like freaking out and flashing, because our switch is up on the roof and not covered by anything.  So the rain was messing it up.  So me and my comp went to go upstairs to fix it.  We have 2 doors in our room, one in the front by the street and one to the back by our Patio.  So we walk out and my comp goes first and for some reason i dont know, reflex or because im a moron, i Shut the DOOR! UGH! Haha yeah i locked us out of our room! All of our books and keys were inside haha so here we are outside, without light, and its pouring rain! Luckily there is a side door to our little building/patio thing and the owner of the house forgot to lock it.  SO we were able to get out.  I felt like such and idiot. SO we went to go sleep at the zone leaders house just a couple blocks away, but they were running late (shocker) haha and we were waiting and waiting until it was almost 9:30 and we have to be inside by 9:30 so while we were waiting i bought ice cream and sat and ate it cause i was depressed because of my stupidity haha and cookies... after i ate them i definitely felt better, like in harry potter, chocolate can solve any problem! Even dementors! So we returned to our room, and we had one choice... break the window! Haha yep so we busted the window with a rock haah luckily for me the little frame only costs 2 soles! So no biggie!! I talked to the owner of the house and she could care less haha!.  So we have our window and one of the frames is cardboard, haha i made one out of a box and with my knife! Just like my shipping days at Ferrari Color working with boxes! Good
times. So there’s you a tale, yes i know im a moroon but its ok, i have learned a lot of lessons this week. One great one in 1 Corinthians 13, versus 1-3, it pretty much says, you can give anything to the lord, 2 years, your life, service, money, everything, but if you do it without Charity, if your heart is not right, then you will have no reward.  People can serve missions without giving all their heart to the Lord it is sad, because they will have to pay and answer to that someday, but me i want to give it all. I want to serve the lord with All my Heart, Might, Mind, and Strength, like it says in D&C 4, so the Lord can take little old weak me, and shape me and mold me into a man, a real Priesthood Holder.  I had to make some changes, some hard personal decisions to do this, make sure my mind really is only focused on the mission work.  Its been hard, but o great will be my reward knowing i gave it my all. Every time i have a challenge a temptation or anything i have two choices, to respond how Christ would or to not.  My quest is to always responds how Christ would.  Andthats what happens when we truly give our hearts to the lord.  Because, if we have not Charity, we are NOTHING.  So i hope that made sense, you know me im a rambler, but hey that’s me! Well guys im checking out for now, but know i love you all and i hope all is well!

!UNA SEMANA LOCO!

Hola Fam and Friends! How yall doing this fine day? Well its me again just out here in Peru preaching the Gospel! So all is well here, this week has been nuts! We had changes and all that so that was crazy, they re organized Huanuco, there are now 2 zones here and my zone is Zona Amarillis, we have Cerro de Pasco as part of our zone now to! So maybe we will get to go up there for a pday and we can play golf on the world’s highest golf course! I want to so bad! But if not, dad we will have to play when you guys come to get me! Sounds good to me! So yes finally we had the Baptism and Marriage of Rocemberge! It was really awesome! That day was pretty nuts with the wedding and the baptism the same day, plus i had a Gringo Bathroom problem all day that day!
Welcome to Peru right! Dad i almost became a ¨Real¨ South American Elder this week but i made it to the John just in time, so still waiting for that great experience which i have discovered  is pretty much a for sure experience i am bound to go through haha! So also we had another baptism of a Teenage boy named Christian, yeah i didnt know him either haha, turns out he lives in our area, but attends a different ward.  So yeah with the changes the missionaries that were teaching him all got changed, so my comp pretty much just argued his way with the new elders to have him as our baptism for numbers.  It was kinda lame, cause he isnt going to attend our ward so i thought the other missionaires in the ward he goes to should baptize him, but welcome to the life of a junior brand new gringo comp right? I feel like the penguins on Madagascar sometimes, Just smile and wave boys, just smile and wave... haha just waiting for my time! But thats the lesson i have to learn as well called Patience... not enjoying that one to much, but im working on it! My English is getting pretty bad, i wont lie so bear with me! So Sunday was absolutely nuts! We have these
3 little girls that assist every week and are about 10, turns out they arent members so they want to be baptized so we are teaching them.
The problem is they absolutely love me! Like during church they forced me to sit with them, because they kept stealing my dang backpack till i would.  And my comp sat with me for like 10 minutes then moved 2 rows back to sit with other investigators which definitely isnt allowed, but welcome to my life! I couldnt move cause they would start screaming if i tried to leave, and to think they are like 10 or 11.  So while i was going through that trying to keep them quiet during the sacrament while they asked me questions like... So are you parents Gringos too?
I was tempted to answer No actually one is Black and the other is an Indian i mean what kinda of a question is that, honestly Of course they are gringos haha but yeah then 3 minutes before sacrament meeting the 1st counselor asked if i could give  a 10 minutes talk.  So for you guys that doesnt seem much because you can get up there and have the liberty of speaking freely! I have to do it in Spanish! So im in sacrament meeting with 3 little girls jumping all over me stealing my stuff and screaming, trying to prepare a talk, then along comes the little son of Our Baptism Hrn Rocemberge who is 2 and a half and a demon child! So he comes over and starts ripping my book of mormon out of my hands while im trying to prepare my talk in Spanish with 3 little demon children screaming, Elder MAGGIE. ELDER MAGGIE! Do you like the united states? Is it pretty there? where are you from? Do you have a family? I mean honestly, my life haha, so then little Mattius, the kid of hermano Rocemberge, rips a page of my book of mormon, for the 2 nd time and Hermano Rocemberg comes over all worried and is like o no i will buy you a new one! So then im trying to explain to him its really alright and not to buy me a new one.  He finally agreed that he wasnt going to buy me a new book of mormon and then it was time to give my talk! Haha it all worked out, i spoke about Christ, shared some scriptures, told some stories,  got some laughs, so it was all good.  But yeah it was nuts! This week was kinda hard, my comp has ZERO desire to contact people, but if we dont contact we arent fulfilling our missionary duty and we wont have appointments, so finally sunday night i had enough and i just started contacting every person, he would walk past someone, then i would just start contacting them, he has no choice, he has to stay with me, so if he doesnt want to contact i dont really care he can stand there all day. Woof, but yeah im working on it! I shared the scripture in D&C 61: 3,  about contacting, but nothing has changed, but o well thats life! So lifes is good, my spanish is improving, dont worry dad im really trying my best to practice my words so my accent is legit! I dont know what it is but i have like this burning desire to be able to speak spanish so perfect! Maybe its just a McGhie trait, it kills me sometimes when i hear other gringos just butcher words! Haha what can i say, like father like son i guess? So thanks family and friends! Love all ya!
Till next week! TTFN Ta ta for now!

Happy Valentines Day HaHa!!!

Well another Pday is here! How we all doing? So yes this week its official i am on the board for baptisms!!! YEAH! We had 2 baptisms this week and i got to Baptize em both! i really cant describe the feeling i had it really was amazing! We baptized a hermana named Mary she is 17 years old, her mom is a member but inactive, so it was really great! she works in the market in our area, she and her mom have a sewing shop, and it really is a blessing because now this is the 3rd article of clothing i have ripped that they are reparing for me... haha yeah i even surprise myself at my Spastic Abilities... but i figured i saved her soul so the least she can do is sew some pants and a shirt for me... haha yeah i know im a horrible person! Dont worry fam they werent bad rips just like a little rip i got snagged on a fence one time, the other i ripped the but of my slacks getting into a little moto taxi... i tell ya i am a real spaz! But all is fixed and well so dont go sending me more clothes, i got plenty! O and our other baptism was of a 13 year old boy named Javier.  He is awesome and really wants to serve a mission! He didnt have a tie so i gave him one of mine! I would send pictures home, but after the baptism i was fiddling with my camera to try and fix the resolution so it is on the highest quality, and I cant believe it I DELETED ALL MY PICTURES! It was all i could to do to keep myself from cursing.  I honestly was depressed! But i was talking to another missionary and telling him what  happened and turns out they might not actually be deleted, he said it happens to missionaries all the time, they accidently reset the camera, he is working on it right now so i dont know he says its easy to get em back! I pray! So i dont know how he is going to do it, maybe using some dark magic or something, doesnt matter to me as long as i get my pictures back! So weird its valentines day haha but i sent liney a letter home! Have you gotten my package yet? It should be arriving this week! SO i of course have some more Gringo moments  for ya today... this one is pretty classic! So as we were in an appointment with Mary the girl we baptized, we were preparing her for the baptism date, she asked what she needed to bring.  What i meant to say was bring yourself, your family, a change of clothes, and most importantly your smile for the pictures! Hahah but the word for smile is sonrisa, not songrisa... haha a Songrisa is a type of beer! So what i really said was bring yourself, your family a change of clothes and most importantly THE BEER!!! Haha they all just looked  at me like what the heck? And my companion was just dying of laughter haha yeah I was confused to say the least, they explained to me what I did... haha yeah so that was pretty interesting. So at the end of the lesson they were asking how was our p day and what did we do.  I told them we played volleyball and so i was like, OH YEAH, WE PLAYED VOLLEYBALL !!!! And i started to do the overexaggerated poses of bump, set and spike haha when i was doing the poses of course it had rained, i kinda slipped and of course i pulled my groin muscle, DON’T SAY IT MOM, I KNOW IT ALWAYS HAPPENS !  AHHH MY LIFE HAHAHA! So there are your laughs for the week, hopefully laughing with me and not at me, but either way i guess it works haha.  SO hopefully next week i will have my pictures back and be able to send you the photos of my baptisms! Oh and i have a wedding this week and baptism of Hermano Rocemberge! We have been waiting for his the mother of his spouse to come in for the wedding but it shoudl  be tomorrow! I hope! SO pray for her to come so we can have the wedding and the baptism! Other than that my investigators are Junior, a 20 year old who is really interested! His date of baptism is for next saturday, Also looks like Erica is back on the list, she came back to church, she is 13 knows the church is true, she just has a fear of actually committing to the church so pray for her! Those are our only 2 investigators that are really progressing so pray for them!
And Rocemberge! So life is good, all the Latinos love the fact i can talk soccer with all of them! They dont believe me that i know the teams and all that, until we start talking smack! ITs pretty fun to say the least, but no one respects my boy Lionel Messi here! They all like Christiano Ranaldo who is garbage! But dont worry, tell collin and bubba im always backing up our boy MESSI! Haha im loving life, looks like changes are this week and im with my comp for 6 more weeks...yay... haha i dunno it just feels  like we do the bare minimal of the work, there is so much more we could be doing! Im just frustrated cause i want to utilize every possible aspect we have to help our investigators but he just doesnt have a passion or fire for the work!
I feel like im being trained wrong, but its ok  i can do it! He is just kinda counting down the days till he goes home, but he doesnt even have a year yet! So that is my task now, but im trying my best!
Love ya all, sosososososososo much family and by sayin family I an talkin to all of ya my friends too haha!! But my comp and I were walkin and  we heard a song playing really loud in the street and it was one of mine and Lineys songs! This club couldnt even handle me right now! I froze in the street and all these memories came flooding back, dance parties in lola, us eating wendys haha !! good times haha!! Remember everyone that  im always praying for ya! LOVE YOU ALL haha!

Another Day another Dollar!

Hey hey fam and friends! Whats happenin out there good old sandy utah!?Well enough with that and onto the email haha, so here i am in some shifty internet cafe and this guy is playing some hard core Eminem rap music next to me that happens to be swearing every other word haha so if this email comes across like a gangster its because im typing to the music haha thug life baby! Alright time for another excellent set of Gringo moments! First of all we were supposed to have our first baptism this week! Haha key word supposed to, welcome to the misson right... But this one was a little different, so its Hermano Rocemberg he has a kid and a wife who is a member, or we thought it was his wife... yeah so after he had passed his interview with the STAKE PRESIDENT and everything, he is friends with the stake president and the stake president was going to do the baptism, so it all looked perfect.  We went to his house the next morning and were filling out the Baptism info, roster thing, like dates of birth,  full names and all that.  So then we got to the question, where were you married, he just got this confused look on his face and was like huh? Remember we had already taught the law of chastity, and he passed his baptismal interview with the stake president and our Stake Pres is really awesome, well i mean he is no President Smith, obviously! But he is pretty good, but no one can take President Smith, and im pretty sure no one would pass a baptismal interview with President Smith without being married! I just laughed and i couldnt believe it haha.   But its all good so now we have a wedding and a baptism this week! Haha oh Peru never ceases to amaze me! But yeah this week was pretty good, my companion is doing better but we still have some work to do for sure.  I only have one week left in this transfer, crazy, i have next transfer to be a new missionary and after that i can actually do stuff and i wont be with my trainer.  There is a chance we are together for next transfer its about 50 50, ill be fine either way so dont worry i can do it! Whatever the lord gives me to do i can do it cause all is possible with the lord! Sorry this is a short email, but I am uploading some pictures before my mom flies to Peru to get them from me..............you dont fool around with my mom and her pictures haha! Well thanks for all the prayers and love, I really appreciate it and couldnt do it without yall! Paz y Amor haha

And now its time for some more Gringo Moments with you favorite elder!

Well its that glorious time again family! How we doing!!! So mom i am
going to just start with my main email and then at the end answer your
questions from last email and all that Jazz!
we go! So i will start by saying this week i had some
problems with my companion but dont worry all is well or better now! I
will start with last Saturday Night a week and 2 days ago.  My
companion forgot to pay the phone bill thing so our little phone ran
out of minutes, it isnt a cell phone some crazy phone thing haha but
yeah so he muttered he would just have to pay for it tomorrow, i sort
of laughed becasue i thought he was joking! WRONG! After breakfast
sunday morning while walking back he like stopped by a store, i
thought o my gosh no way is he about to go in that store and shatter
the sababth day! So i asked him what he was doing he just looked away
and a grabbed him and was like wowow no! What are you doing! But he
went in and bought the next phone bill on sudnday! O man i about blew
a gasket! He came out and i started giving it to him, but something
stopped me, i looked at him and i could honestly tell he felt really
bad.  He has only been a member for 4 years and i think it was a he
fears man more than god moment becasue its his first time being
district leader and he had to call in numbers but yeah it was unreal!
SO i calmly told him we can never do that again we are missonaries and
how are we supposed to teach the sabbath day to investigators when we
arent keeping it! So after awhile i just kinda tried to move on! But
after sacrament meeting we had an investigator who works in the market
at church but she left after sacrament meeting so he wanted to go talk
to her... or thats what he said so she works in a little sewing shop
and the zipper on his book of mormon cover was broken and we really
went there so she could fix the zipper! So as we are standing there in
the middle of the market while we are supposed to be in church, he is
having an investigator break the sabath day and fix his zipper.  wow I
just about blew up.  I told the lady and the workers in the shop to
exuse us for a second, i went out of the shop and i had to just unload
on him.  It was ridiculous.  I told him i dont think he understands
the mission or the sabbath day.  He told me since i was new I had a
lot to learn about the mission and i didnt know what i was talking
about!!! O wow talk about pushin my buttons! i then told him sure i
was new and had things to learn fo rthe mission, but one thing i do
understand 100 percent are the commandments of The Church and we are
missionaries!!! We have to be the example to everyone! It was
ridiculous.  So after that i had to stop and apologize becasue you
have to have the spirit or you cant teach.  SO that was extremely
difficult for my to do, apologize for yelling at my comp when he
deserved all of it and more.  But i ate the humble pie! So besides
that my comp was having trouble getting up in the morning, being
obedient and all that! AHH i was just trying my best to be the
example.  But the lord blessed me, the zone leaders came on divisoins
with us for a half day.  And i got to be with Elder Hill a North
American in my area.  He could sort of tell something was up.  So i
just told him everything the  whole 9 yards.  He just smiled, turns
out his first companion was the ¨distric leader¨to and turns out that
doesnt mean crap! His comp was similar to mine, a good missionary who
has just gotten lazyand in a rotine.  He said every trainer is a
trainer for a reason.  Either the trainer is great and is there to
kick the new guy in the but or the other way, the trainer needs the
but kicking! So he gave me some tips on what to do. Haha so the next
day for comp study i told him i wanted to do a little reading in Prech
my Gospel.  So together we read the sections in PMG on accoutability
and obedience!!! O HECK YEAH! Pretty much he got the picture and since
then things have beeen a lot better! He actually gets up on time and
we work! Its great! So i thought dad would enjoy that story and im
sure he can relate perfectly! Alright time for my Gringo moment of the
weeek.  SO we didnt have any of our investigators ready or willing for
baptism this week.  But the sister missionaries in our district did,
so they asked me to do that baptism! IT was sweet! Would have been a
lot cooler if it had been our investigator but hey ill take it, and no
im not counting it as a baptism! But so it was a 13 year old boy and
of course his name was GIANT! His name is Andrey Piero Usuriaga
Miraval... woof! So here i am in the font ready and i start saying the
prayer.  My comp stops me becasue he said i was saying his first name
Andrey wrong.  He said no no its not Andrey its AndrEy or something so
i tried again... and again... 3 times he stopped me! By this time i
wanted to jump out of that font and give him a good old Four Arm
Shiver to the FACE! haha so the other witness was a gringo to, he
leaned in and was like what the heck is going on?  MY comp said, he is
saying Andrey not AndrEY haha i have no idea i honestly couldnt tell
the difference! Neither could the other Gringo elder, so finally my
companion got off the crack cocain and i did the baptism! Haha AHH! MY
life! Im such a gringo its unreal! BUt i am loving the mission! O and
i had a Spanish break through!  A memebr asked us to help the Stake
mission prep class and of course we forgot to plan something, so i was
supposed to get up there and talk about the importance of have the
holy ghost alwasys(how appropriate haha) of course in all spanish. So
i found the Preach my Gospel cover verse in d and c 50 and i honstly
was just speaking spanish! HAHA for like 10 minutes! When i finished i
just sat down and i was like... what the heck just happened!!! I was
speaking spanish!! HAHA YEAH! So after words i asked my comp how it
was and he said that my spanish was money! I was so happy! THat is one
of the great things about me companion is he is awsome at teaching me
spanish! And he is pretty funny so dont worry mom all is well!
Love all yall! HOpe you enjoyed!

Gringo Moments, the life story of Elder McGhie!

Well hey hey hey! So i am writing this email first then reading them
and printing them later so i can make sure and get you guys a good
email!
So im going to start of with a brief summary of what i call Gringo
Moments... Lessons learned the hard way in the first 3 weeks of the
mission! First i will start off with one of my first day... SO in
Spanish if you call someone Elderzito, it means beloved Elder.  Haha
me being a newb had no idea what that meant.  So for the whole first
couple days my pensionista was refering to me with that title and i
just thought she didnt know my name or something.  So when i tried to
explain to her that wasnt my name, she just laughed haha because she
has been a pensionita for like 12 years and has had plenty of new
gringos to deal with.  To say the least i felt like a moron.  Haha
another fun experience having to do with food here, they have this
stuff called Eccho, it is exactly like coffee but not against the word
of wisdom? haha i dont ask, the mission president approves of it it
must be alright! But so my first day i thought it was like Nesquick or
something... so here i am spooning like  5 giant scoops into my little
mug, i took one gulp and almost threw up! UGh it was the worst, my
comp laughed and traded me mugs and he thought he could handle it, he
took one gulp and almost upchucked and he is Peruano! Haha so i took
it back and i just held my breath and chugged that bad boy like it was
one of those nasty protien shakes! Haha except i didnt plug my nose i
just put a giant smile on my face and acted like it was the best thing
in the world.  After breakfast we were walking back to our room and
this guy was driving one of those litle moto taxis, he  leaned out the
window and yelled ¨Hey Gringo! HIGH HITLER¨ and did the hitler salute
thing... haha i just shook my head and said yeah buenos dias to you to
mate.  Haha another great learning experience was we had family night
with this active great family, and they had a bunch of food for
afterwords, but we didnt have time to eat cause it was 9 and time to
go back to the room, but here in peru they wont let anyone leave
hungry! So they filled up this like Vase of Rice pudding and gave us
rolls.  I of course was more than happy to eat my share back in the
room, but my comp didnt.  So the next day he asked me to empty out the
leftover so me being a newb gringo just dumped it down the sink... i
forgot 2 things, 1 it was like rice pudding, and 2nd im not in the USA
haha so i got to finger rice pudding out of a nasty drain and then
chuck it in the toilet! I amaze even myself sometimes with my Gringo
powers! So haha one of my better moments so far on the mission ahs to
have come on about my 4th day in the field.  IT was around 7 in the
evening and this old guy came running over to us shouting HALELUJA!
and hugging us, he said he had been waiting for us and wanted to be
baptized,  i was pumped right! SO im over there bearing my testimony,
giving him every pamphlet i got and my comp wasnt very enthused! I was
like whats his promblem? We have found the Golden Investigator! So
after all this we got his name address and an appointment and in my
head im like, There it is baby! BAptism number 1 haha after we walked
away i asked my comp what was up with him,and turns out the guy was
just totally wasted and we havent seen him since haha... One more
Gringo moment for yall, so its SAturday night, and i am jsut exausted,
but lucky for me as i tried to go to bed that night one house over was
honestly having a rock concert on their roof... haha i tried
everything i shoved toilet paper in my ears and nothing was working,
it was like i was litterelly in the middle of a rock concert it was so
loud haha, the people singing was some old dude and some little girl
and a bunch of people just jammin out till 3 im the morning! Haha good
times, good times! SO i hope that made up for my lame email last week!
SO family i sent a package home with a double sided casset with 2
recordings and some sovenirs for ya home today! I put like 10 stickers
of saint mary on there so that should arrive in about 2 and a half
weeks, i sent it through serpost here  the other elders said it worked
for them every time, but if it doesnt make it in 3 weeks ill record
another and sent it with that lady! Ill send all my stuff through her
now i got here info! But i think itll get there! IHOPE! SO my
investigators this week, we have Rocemberg who is married and has one
little baby boy, mateus, his wife is a member and we ahve a baptismal
date for him this week! We have Clissman, a 15 year old boy, he wants
to be baptized, but is scared to ask his dad for permission so pray
for him! Also a 14 year old named Erika, she knows its true, she just
isnt very urgent to get in the font! Also we have Ines, a 27 year old
with a baby and a guys she was living with.  We were teaching them
both and they had a wedding date, but the guy left and ran away to
LIma! So she has a baptismal date for 1 month and she wants to do it
single and not living with that guy who just left his soon to be legit
wife and baby boy of age 2 named Joshua! Sad stuff so please pray for
them!
Here is one more rule for you to embrace mom.... you cant log on to myldsmail
account anymore! becasue the mission president has a time log and if
you log on it adds tomy time and it shows when you log on! I talked to
a zone leader to warn him so the president doesnt think i have been
randomly logging on to my account so all is well just dont log on
anymore! SOrry! I only give you permission if one monday its 3 ocklock
in utah timeand you havent gotten an email from me, that means it
didnt send through the internet! You can log on and quickly snag it!
But only if its like 3 ocklock in utah! Sorry mom its a rule! But love
ya! Hope all is well, this computer is wack and says i have to install
something on my camera to send pics so im not risking it! But next
week ill make sure i can send em! I have a lot to send! LOVE YOU GUYS
SO MUCH! Thanks for the prayers! Well until next week! TTFN... ta ta
for now!

Hey… its this guy again

HHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAA FAMILIA and My friends!
Once again reporting live from some ghetto internet hub in peru! Pretty much the computer i am using has to be from the Dinosaur age! So i have to print all the emails out today because i have been spending all my time trying to actually get on the internet! WOOF! So i got a bunch of Dear Elders today, from a couple weeks ago! So Liney i finally got your Dear Elders today! I havent read em all, but im proud of you and your facebook update after the cougz defeat! THats my
little sister! Way to be! O and i finally listened to the tape you
guys sent me from Christmas! IT was awesome to hear from everyone! So i was inspired and recorded one of my own! I will send it today or i will have to send it next week, i dont know cause its a Zone Pday today so i might not have time I will try my best! So apparently we have some new additions to the family coming through the Shelly line? Tell Melissa and Kyle congrats and Nick and Heather as well!

So now i will start the story telling…This week has been fairly nuts… as any former missionary who was learning a new language can tell you! So right now my Spanish has picked up alot! I can understand most things Gospel related, but other
than that it is very difficult haha! I think last thrusday was the
first time i actually taught in a lesson. It was AWSOME! I cant teach very much but each time it gets better! Haha sometimes i teach a whole principle and the investigator just gives me this blank stare, and then my comp has to re explain everything again! But hey thats the mission. So i have had a couple
moments where i have wanted to chuck my companion out the window haha. So he is a champion, we get along great, its just probably impossible to know how frustrating it is to
be in a brand new country trying to learn the language and preach the gospel at the same time, unless you have actually done it! But hey its all good! I am always a little uptight about getting to appointments on time and all that and he is the opposite! But then i have to remember i am in Peru and no one really cares if we are 10, 15, 25, minutes late. But still it bothers me, cause there have been a couple times where the people have left because we werent there on time! Haha so we found a new room!!! Thank goodness! A member of the ward hooked us up,
i think we will change rooms on wednesday! It is such a relief,
because the house we live in now its this older couple and their son there. THey are nice, the problem is she has like 6 of those little rat dogs! O MY GOOODNESS! All they do all night long is sit there and bark, and bark, and bark! I want to chuck them out the window! But im a missionary, so that probably wouldnt be good! So my time is already up! CRAP! Sorry i will try and do better next week! I have some pictures, our investigaters are Hermano Nilo, Hermano Rocenberg and erika with baptismal dates for 2 weeks! Pray for them! Sorry i will do better next week! No time to send pictues or anything! SO Sorry! Crap i have to go! Danget! LOVE ALL OF YOU SORRY it was such a
lame email! Adios! Elder McGhie, ALL IS WELL!

REPORTING LIVE FROM HUANUCO !!!

What is up my beloved family and friends!
Im sitting in this internet cafe in the town square of the beautiful city of Huanuco! (wanuco)  Haha yeah so this has maybe been the craziest week of my entire life! Before i begin the epic story telling i must explain my email rule.  We get 50 minutes on the computer so that is definitely nice! But i can only send and receive emails to one email address.  We had to pick one and get it approved by the Mission President.... the lucky winner is MOM! HAHA YEAH! I figure that could keep her busy for a while! So mom here is the deal. I need you to tell the mortons to have keaton send the emails to your address i already told ryan and elder smith, so i figure that will keep you busy or at least a little! So dad Ainsley and Liney can all send me emails, they just need to come from moms email! I know, kinda weird right? My mission President is awsome, but is very strict, which is good! So my companion is elder Rojo from Lima, he is a CHAMPION! I thank the lord every day for blessing me with him! He is our district leader, it is his first time being the district leader so he is a little stressed and he has me... haha! So i thought i knew spanish pretty well when i left the CCM, yeah couldnt have been more wrong! AHHH SO frustrating! But i know it will come, my motto is poco mas poco mejor, cada dia, ( a little more, a little better everyday! ) Please pray for my spanish! Yesterday i kinda had a mini meltdown during my prayer... i prayed for about 20 min, about 7 minutes was me balling my eyes out! But hey, every good missionary needs a solid cry here and there! I was just frustrated, because you guys know me, my favorite thing to do is talk with everyone, be friends with everyone, i have so many ideas during the lessons we teach but i cant say em because i dont know how to communicate them correctly! AHHH! So yeah, but it will just get better every day! Oh,  so my area is call Paucarbamba, its the name of the ward. O and i have a suprise for all ya! You are now hearing from the ward piano player!!! haha yep thats right, i havent touched a piano for 3 months and sunday i tried to crank out some hymns. The first one was We thank thee o God for a Prophet, i dont know what it is called in spanish, it went pretty well, then i tried to play Called to Serve for the special hymn number... i gave up after the 2nd verse haha yeah it was rough, then the last hymn was secret prayer and i cranked it out like a soldier! But yeah i figured you would get a kick outa that! So yeah i left the ccm on tuesday and that night at 10 oclock i boarded a bus with 2 other elders and 2 hermanas and we drove all through the night! It was a really nice bus, but not much leg room! SO i arrived here at like 9 in the morning.  We arent supposed to travel in the night, but right now in Huanuco there is this constant festival so they couldnt get other bus tickets.  It is the Festivel of the "Los Negritos" pretty much a bunch of drunk peruanos dress up in these crazy outfits with black masks on and they walk up and down the street with a band and dance ALL DAY LONG! Haha there are like three of them that dress up like Gringos and every time they see me they run up and are all shaking my hand and in my face saying YOU ES MY HERMANO or sometimes they manage Brother to come out haha i just laugh and say Gringo or something and then they go on their merry way dancing and all that.  I have seen a lot of weird things you would never see in the US haha the culture shock wore off in about half a day of arriving here. Now i just shake my head, chuckle and think to myself T.I.P. meaning, This is Peru haha Dan taught me that when we went to that Peruano Resturaunt.  So since we are opening a new area,  they had to find us a room very quickly (Emergency Room), we have this month to find another, because this one breaks about every rule about rooms... but its not bad, we have a possibility of a new room, like and apartment, we might go look at it today, we shall see! I hope so cause my goal is to be 100 percent obedient! And our room isnt, the zone leaders claim the President knows it and said its ok, which is bull crap so i keep pressin my comp to get another one! He doesnt seem in too much in a hurry, which frustrates me a little.  HE is great though! But he is a very intense planner of like lessons, but i need to plan out every little part because i have to prepare for the lessons and practice my spanish, i told him straight up we need to plan more, its going better.  So yeah, my pensionista is awesome! She makes really good food! So mom ill give you my schedule everyday so you can look at the clock and maybe know what im doing! We eat breakfast everyday at 7:30, then personal study from 8-9, then comp study from 9-10, language study form 10-11, we then have lessons or contacts till 1 then we eat for an hour then from 2-5 contacts and lessons, 5-6 is dinner and then we work till 9 or 930 if we have appointments, we are 2 hours ahead of you so just be comforted! LOVE YOU FAMILY! I took a few photos so i will send em now! Life is great! I just am learning more lessons and patience everyday! haha i just want to speak spanish!!!!!! Patience... patience... ahh!  Write me in the next email or send a dear elder and tell me what is up! I hope all is well! I have my little mike wazouski on my dresser! I kiss it good luck everyday! Thanks everyone! I love ya!  Elder Spencer Marty McGhie
PS tell my friends to write me, they can just write me using,  dearelder.com (its free)  or just write an email and send it to my  mom and she will email it to me!!

Hey there Fam and Friends!!!!

Hey there Fam and Friends!!! Hows life in the real world? I hear its overated haha! So thanks for the Christmas update and all that and the update on Liney´s big 14th birthday! So yesterday me and my companion sang happy birthday to liney while we were walking to class, and everyone in my district sang Sweet Caroline about 10 times! So dont worry Liney you got a lot of Birthday wishes from the CCM in Peru! I hope your day was wonderful!!! So i guess in this email i got to start back on Christmas Eve. So Christmas Eve well started out alright, i dunno it was hard not to think of home and all that but that was early in the day on Christmas Eve. We had a fireside that night which was pretty good, but the fun all started after that! After the fireside we all participated in a Christmas Tradition, Hot Chocolate and Fruit Cake? Haha well at least in the United States fruit cake is a joke, not in Peru! They love that stuff! And to tell you the truth... its not good haha but yeah, o before i get started you guys need to tell Kyle Spencer that  he Served with both of my teachers in Trujjio Mission! My guy teacher would have been Elder Martinez who worked in the office with him, and my girl teach (who is the best teacher ever) her name is Rosario Caballero, she knew Kyle to, so that was really cool! And then i had to explain to them why my first name is Spencer and not my last haha that was fun... O and dad to answer your question, i thought my Spanish was coming along pretty well... until yesterday we started SUBJUNCTIVE!!! AHHH!!! What the heck that stuff is nuts.  So i guess we will see how that goes.  But anyways sorry mom this is going to freak you out, but i leave the CCM on Tuesday Morning!!! HOORAY!!! So yeah im pretty much stoked out of my mind! But that means you shoulda sent the package to the mission home! O well its all good, hopefully it gets to me haha!  So back to Christmas Eve, so we ate that funky fruit cake and then each district was assignent to pick some Christmas Song and sing it that night, but it didnt have to be a hymn, it could be whatever song we wanted! So i figured a lot of people would do fun songs, i was kinda wrong on that one... haha so we all go out there and everyone starts singing and we are the last disctrict to go, of course cause we are all north americans.  So everyone is singing silent night, and a bunch of hymns, Im like o boy haha because i had proposed the idea and my district all loved it to sing the Grinch Song! Haha i was inspired by Seth Tippets, that is his favorite Chirstmas Song and I just remembered how awsome it was so our teacher printed off the lyrics and it was like 6 verses, we had practiced all these actions and stuff haha so classic! So we get up there and everone sang hymns or serious songs, Elder Mortons district sang Mary did you Know, they did way good but i couldnt help laugh cause that always reminds me of when our cousing Ethan Lamb sang that to his mom haha what a classic moment! So we get up there and start singing the Grinch Song and I wont lie it was pretty funny, and I was getting into it, with sound effects and all that jazz, so tell Seth i did my best to make him proud haha! After that everyone just stayed out there and we sang every Christmas song we could think of! We sang chesnuts roasting on an open fire, jingle bells, 12 days of Christmas, we sang em all! It was pretty fun! We just belted em out, then we went in and this Elder had the same poem mom sent me, a missionary christmas, i hadnt opened my package for Christmas Eve yet, so pretty much he read that and we were all balling because we all missed our Mothers haha, then i went up to my room and opened up my Christmas Eve package and read it again and i cried a little more! Dont worry, it was a good crying session though, and dad your letter was awsome! What you said about how if i was home it wouldnt have been as happy, cause i need to be out here, and that was so true! So thanks for that.  Please thank everyone that sent a christmas note, they were so awsome!!! I loved reading all of them, and the pictures were amazing!!! So great job on that! So i woke up and Christmas and of course opened up my presents!!! I was so pumped when i got the Gryffindor T-Shirt!!! So awsome!! Thanks so much for that!  First off i need mom or dad to email or call the mortons and thank them for raising such an amazing kid!!! And thank the Lord for allowing us to be together on Christmas, it was nice to one of my brothers with me on Christmas! We did a little gift exchange, me and Keat, we signed some ties and gave em to each other with some candy and chips, so pretty much I love Keat! Such a blessing to have him with me! it really did help Christmas to be a whole lot brighter having him here!  SO Christmas was pretty awsome, we had a bunch of pinatas and all that, you will see in my pictures im holding the pieces of the piƱata in the air, in my Gryffindor shrit! And then we played some kick ball and Sand volleyball, we had a giant Christmas lunch that was actually way good! I gave my ties out and we took some matching pictures so that was awsome! Then later in the night me and elder morton played some pick up soccer with some latinos before we watched a movie.  They let us watch the Other Side of Heaven! It was so awsome! It was kinda weird cause you know how its like a half love story haha... yeah so me Elder Morton and my comp were laughing about that haha Girls... totally lame and overated... at least till November 2012! Haha good times! So yeah life is great, Christmas was really fun, Ive got a lot of pictures to send you! So remember i get out of here on tuesday!!! Tuesday morning or afternoon we go to the mission home and have our interviews and then we go to our areas!!! HECK YEAH!!!! Here is how i see it, yeah the MTC was fun, but i am so ready to get out of here ahah, the mission i have been dreaming about for my whole life is actually about to start in less than a week! Sure, im nervous my spanish isnt that awsome but i know once i get out there i just want to get lost in the work, get fluent in spanish, and START SAVING SOME SOULS BABY!!! Im so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Dont worry about the package, itll get to me! thanks for sending one so quick! You guys are the best and always in my prayers! And trust me, i say a lot of prayers these days haha!
Well love ya all!!! Elder Spencer Marty McGhie
